DIY Respray

So, I am tight and can't afford a full on respray as its loads.

I want the van a different colour. Can I do it myself?

I guess I would need to buy some sort of spray gun, electric one as I don't have an air compressor. Then I guess sand it all, spray, sand, spray, then at some point laqueur, then more spray, and sanding more laqueur etc.

Not after it being showroom like, but just lovely and nice....
Any tips????

beetle bonnet and decklid seals ??????

is it me? have i gone saft? or have gsf flogged me the wrong stuff?

with the bonnet seal i can see 3 tuts that locate in the 3 holes in the car on each side but the seal looks like it should be in a groove ( groovy ) or summat. the rear is the same apart from the 3 holes.

also the bonnet seal looks too thin.

or do i go to the local car type place and get some door type seal that was on it when i got it?

as you probably know red vws have a tendency to go PINK after a while.

i like to keep mine clean so it gets a fair bit of polish whanged at it.

but if i leave it for 2-3 weeks it starts to turn pink, so wonderd if anyone had a secret recipe that works.

i start with a but of t-cut (not every time) then come auto glym colour restorer, then ice polish or super resin.

ive had a couple of hours on it this evening getting it ready for bvf and have just about had enough now.

cheers.
