Phone contract renewal time !!

So peeps, whats the best deal out there ? All I need is calls, txts, and a camera.. I don't need tinternet or loads of music on it... Or any other new fangled stuff they've invented since I got this one.

I want to be able to go to a shop if there is a problem, this one is with '3' over tinternet, and I had to ring their call centre in India when I had problems.. they were crap !

And I wanna pay less then £20 a month.

Well personally I wouldn't deal with anyone other than o2 or Vodafone, but in reality even with these two you will probably have to deal with a call centre on the sub continent even if you 'do the deal' in a shop.
The other option is to get a Blackberry, because all the Blackberry support teams are in the UK, but thats a whole other world of pain!

Agree with 02 or Vodafone - best coverage and signal strength in my experience.
To avoid having to speak to the wannabe premiership footballers that seem to work in the shops - I use the 02 online shop. Loads of choice and you can take your time with no pressure selling. Next day delivery and if you do have any problems, you can just go into any 02 store without problem.

do you want a new phone ? as the sim only deals are good these days . i would only go with o2 as voda are a bunch of wankers to .

and if you go with o2 you can get your unlimited broad band for £7.50 a month

you can get very close to them deals in the shop in town . but iv had no probs with sim only on line . but i would go to the shop if i wanted a new phone

for just one isident they changer my cotract to havein no mins or txed with out tellin me and then said i asked them to change it to one for the same prices with nothing . so my bills were £90 instead of 20 for 7 months

they tell you you can have a phone sent you for free to try for 14 day . but if you dont want it they charge to send it back

Onyone got a dead cheap contract with them ? I'm on 500 mins and txts mix and match for £20 at the mo.. can 02 match that or do better ? Their online tarrifs don't seem as good. Or can I go into the shop, say what I want and sweet talk them into giving it to me ?

Mine's all done through work, so a shared 7500 minutes tariff with free o2 to o2 and free 10 nominated landline numbers and 2000 texts per month betwen 37 handsets. If you remove the blackberry costs from the equasion that works out at less than £12 per month per handset.
Mrs WB has an iphone with more voice, data and text than even she can ever use for £30 per month.

£20 per month must be achievable without a data connection.

Remember that mobile costs are always going down as the networks have - in the main - now paid for their licenses and infrastructure so its all profit.


Get a comparison quote for a sim only contract and a phone and sim contract with a handset you like and then email me with the handset details.
I can buy o2 hardware at a massive discount so may be able to get a brand new handset for you and save you some £££ on your overall contract costs.

And before you ask, no I can't take green shield stamps or payment in cider. To get the discount I have to buy through work so they dock it from my pay, but it could be a bigger saving for you long term if you can stump up for a handset and go sim only rather than enter into a long contract with a 'free' one.

Alternatively I can give you my Blackberry for free - but you'll need to answer for me to it when people email you at 4 in the morning about non urgent shite!.

I've rung 3 (tinternet and shop) and they can both do unlimited txts and 200 mins for £19.57 with a LGKU990i phone.

02 can do a sim only, 300 mins, 600 txts for £14.69.

So, based on an 18 month contract... total cost for a new 3 contract is £352.26
18 months on 02 sim only is £264.42

Which gives me £87.84 to play with for a phone.

Do you know if you can get a nokia (not 6500slide) for that or less ? .. off the top of your head ? and if you can, and there is a problem with it, would it be lots of hassle to get it sorted cuz it's been bought thru your work ?

If it would be lots of hassle, or cost more than £87.84, I'll just go to the 3 shop next week and renew my contract.. least if I renew via then shop, then if anything goes wrong I have someone to kick off at !

To get a proper comparison you need to know what o2 will do - same minutes and texts - but with a handset of your choice.
You can cost your options properly then.
I would look at two year contract - they seem to work out better.

mines probably a crap deal but i've got 18month deal with vodaphone £23 inc vat 250txtx and 200mins with N95 phone, i'm sure i'm up for a upgrade soon tooand not sure what phone to go for next

I rang 3 for my pac code at work today.. 30 mins later they had offered me 500 mins and unlimited txts and a blackberry ! Then I remembered why I had rung and that I was as work and asked for the pac code another 3 times. then they txted it to me

o2 sim only online is £19.58 for 800 mins, 1600txt .. 12 month contract.. that sounds bloody good !

But do you need 800 minutes and 1200 texts. Do you use it that much? Can they do a more sensible use package for less. If you ask nicely, 3 should be able to provide you with a usage report that will show how many minutes you have been using over the past 12 months.
You then need to ask o2 for the same deal minutes /texts deal but with a handset of your choice so you can work out the 'real'costs of the new handset.

I'm not really sure what phone I want tho.. I like nokias cuz i'm use to how they work.. don't really want one with a querty, or a touchscreen that will break, it needs to be small so I can put it in my pocket.. just neet to be able to phone, tx and take good pics really !
