With great reluctance we are selling our much loved Caravelle, it's a long wheel base 1994 model on an M - 2.4 diesel 5 speed manual, 207667 miles (will increase slightly as still in light use), twin sliding doors, rear opening side windows (not that common and ideal for camping) - MOT 3rd Dec, Tax 'til end of Oct. As a long wheel base you get that valuable extra interior space but really don't notice the length when driving or parking it.
This would make an ideal camper conversion as it's huge inside and very economical on diesel - it has the bullet proof 2.4 5 cylinder diesel engine, I have run these engines on straight vegetable oil and bio-diesel with no problems in previous vehicles.
As a genuine factory built Caravelle it's already lined, sound deadened, carpeted and lush - it has the rear auxiliary heater and it's been fitted with swish curtain tracks and runners all round, but would need curtains fitting. It is fitted with genuine VW 16" alloys and very good low profile tyres and is ready for a bit of lowering if that's your thing, the spare is a steel wheel with a good tyre.
It was manufactured as a 9 seater (three rows of three) and all seats have seat belts - all 6 rear seats are quick release types on mushroom bolts so can be removed in seconds to make a full size van and if you don't want them can be sold for a few hundred quid if you want to build a full on camper - if you only want to camp occasionally then you'd have a nice big MPV all year round and an airbed and a cooker will get you camping this summer in no time! It's also got a decent Sony stereo with an aux input cable for your mp3 player with a standard 3.5mm jack plug to connect it, I've also fitted three regular 12v power sockets and a USB power socket to keep SatNav, phone, iPod etc all charged up. The van has a tailgate for cowering under when it's sheeting with rain!
It's in very good shape all round for the year, with only a few stone chips and the odd mark here and there, we have a large family and have had a few of these in the past and hunted high and low for a good one - mechanically it's very good indeed and drives beautifully, everything works as it should and is up together, I've got a folder of bills for all sorts of stuff but not full history, it has been enthusiast owned and well cared for - it even has a genuine VW battery!
We've only had it a short time and absolutely love it, but my wife is very unwell with a chronic autoimmune disease and we've found she just can't manage a manual (we've had an American auto for the last three years) - we thought she'd be OK but it's just not happening. We're not interested in a part exchange as we've already found a suitable auto to replace it.
Viewing is welcome and recommended - please give me a call on 07758 786048 if you fancy a chat about it and please bring proof of insurance if you want a test drive.
This would make an excellent dog van and we also have a genuine Barjo double dog crate custom made for a Caravelle for sale
