Generator light??

Drove home from work this morning and thought to myself "This Fasty is ACE!! ". Pulled up on the drive, turned it off, took out the key and the generator light stayed on??? Tried turning it on and off, started it up and the light goes out as normal. Switched it off again and the light stays on???

That's weird Disconnected the battery and went to bed

Any ideas?

Bad earth possibly or cable connection dirty i had it in beetle where light was faintly on alot of time,could be warn out dynamo bushes. Was lights dimming on way home-battery running flat would say dynamo to me.

When I put new engine in I replaced battery earth strap and dynamo to alternator it fixed it.
This lead me to think it was 1 of them or external regulator??

lights seemed ok on the way home. Battery doesn't seem flat. Bit worried about driving it now til it's sorted in case it lets me down

A long as fan Is still spinning prob wouldn't let you down unless battery Is running flat an u end up with no lights Wouldn't advise driving it anyway. Some1 else will prob help bit better with finding fault sorry!

Just had a look at the regulator and found 50p arcing between D+ and earth
Removed it but problem is still there

50p better than nothing! Have you disconnected blue cable from regulator and put to ground to see if the light goes off, if it does you have a fault in earth somewhere I can't remember what cable is called I think it was blue and green in beetle.?

It's marked 61 in beetle!!

I pulled the blue cable off and the light went out.
Swapped the regulator for a spare I had and problem seems to be solved

I had a little look inside the regulator and all seems ok but it smells a bit burny..

Anyhoo, all sorted now. Thanks dude And I made 50p
