wanted - paving slabs , decking , gravel or anything to turn some soil into some sort of patio

Dont suppose the wants any of the leftover plasterboard I've got in my cellar, before I take it to the tip ?

this is what she has , it don't need to be perfect but could do with at least being not muddy over the winter , needs to be very low mantanace so no plants . i know weeds will grow if its not done propley but she will have to live with that if its just patched up .

i would think ideal the grass bank could be cut away a bit to make a crescent or bigger useable square area , the flower bed gone and the the mud covered in something , i guess the simplest thing would be gravelling the hole bit or even the muddy bits but i guess slabs would be more permanent .

iv never worked in a garden in my life so dont know what im doing so looking for help and ideas . cheers

Is she allowed to do whatever she likes to the garden ? including cutting away the grass bank ? Someone may do it for free topsoil, if she is allowed to get rid of it ?

I've prolly got some black stuff that stops weeds coming up in the garage.

Anyone know how much gravel costs , and home much would be needed to cover that sort of area ?

Couple of bags no more than a fiver a bag would cover it.

D - you need to put a membrane down underneath to stop the weeds growing through the gravel. you can buy it by the metre at garden centres.

cheers mate , as you can tell i dont know what im doing , im starting to think im going to chuck a load of grass seed down , anyone know it it will work this time of year ?

I think from when I helped my nans garden I put down 30mm roughly of gravel on top of a black breathable membrane like weardy said. Under that I put down 25mm of sharp sand to get a flat surface and help stop weeds!
I not sure if this is best way but thought would help you calculate how much material you need!!
To do this you may need to dig out what's there so you don't build up over damp course of building mate
