So I have my van (T4) this weekend hopefully. First things first.

1) Anyone going to Plymfest and if you are and I know you why ain't you visiting me on the way. IF I get the van I may pop down to the fest anyway.

2) Anyone know where in Sun ny Devon I can get glass put in my sliding door panel and possibly the drivers side one. Make it nicer in the back, and tinted of course!

3) I want to lower it a bit smile Not as low as my old one, but a bit. Do I need Spings AND shocks, is it the same for the front and back axles? HELP I know nowt (Toast and Dickie can confirm this)

NICE, I love having a VW again!!!

Transform
your T4 with lowering springs - Improving the safety and handling,
whilst vastly transforming the look and bringing some serious attitude
to your ride!

Set of 2 springs for the rear of your Transporter T4
The front is lowered via torsion bar

Not going to Plymfest.

Vansport are in Cornwall and do window kits or fitting and are meant to be pretty good - however I think Vin may have had his fitted by a main VW dealer (my memory is really shit) and it was remarkably cheap, worth checking with him. Genuine VAG are surprisingly cheap for van stuff at the moment, I'm getting all my T4 stuff from main dealers cheaper than the factors.

Toast is right you only need springs for the back the front adjusts on big nuts that change the torsion bar height - shocks will be fine unless you go way low. Personally I'd advise driving it at stock height for e bit though, I love mine and would never lower it - much better for visibility and ploughing over the peasants. If you do lower it get a four wheel align afterwards as you can start shredding front tyres if you don't.

Have a look on www.busgoons.com in the T4 section - I'm the admin "deviant" on there and have written a few "how to's" on T4's and 2.4D tips and tricks smile

Have fun!

You are correct, the front torsion bar heights just adjust on big nuts. Not hard as such but you'll most likely need a good wire brush and loads of penetrating fluid to clean up the threads first wink

Cheers, useful knowledge, will call a main dealer for the windows to get a quote.
I will try it for a while before lowering, not going to sit it on teh floor, my last one was like that and speed bumops were a mare. And my drive is on an angle, need to get the beast up that!
I guess I should actually go pick up the van first and actually see it!!!!

vin van man

On the handling note, I think you have a anti-roll bar as standard on the LWB so you shouldn't roll around a lot anyway!

Brickwerks do a kit for the SWB but its quite a bit! carzzy

Pic as promised - this is where the front adjusts, just behind the fuel tank are these two big threaded bars, wind the nuts down and the front goes down - I believe it's directly proportional, wind the nut 10mm down the thread and the front drops 10mm, but you may need to experiment. As said before you need new springs to drop the back.
