I know a bit about engines, but im really after opinions of peoples who have more experience than me with certain upgrade bits n bobs.
i was going to go down the turbo route, but im basically lazy and know il never follow it through.
for the same reason i cant be arsed to go bigger than 1641 either
im currently running a 1600 recon so its a decent engine to start with, compressions great and once warmed up it runs really well.
Im going to be putting either a single dual carb, or twin dual carbs on it in the next couple of months, along with a 1500 gearbox.
So the questions are...
1) is it worth the cost/hassle of putting 5cc extra onto each barrel between 1600 and 1641? will i really notice the difference?
2) whats the best external oil cooler to go for that doesnt cost the earth? its just going to be a quick road car so i wont need anything special
3) does anyone have opinions on carbs to use? il be looking to spend £400ish depending one whats available. are the empis worth looking at or is it better going for webers? as ive said before i just want a bit of poke, not guna take it down the strip!
4) and finally without splitting the case, is there any other mods i can do to squeeze a bit more power out of it, or make it more reliable with the extra power im already going to see? e.g. rockers/valves etc.
