The bronze starter suport bush has gone. how bad has the starter / fly wheel warn . you may get away with a new bush and a clean up of the starter gear if its not to bad. smile

The flywheel didn't look too bad in the flesh but in the pic it looks quite bad. The gear on the motor looks fucked. Does the bush look like there's 1 bush inside another to you? The bush feels loose but I can't get it out..

no its just the bronze bush in there. you may get it out by trying to screw a bolt or tap in and pull it out. smile

Yeah I tried to screw a bolt in but because it's loose, it just span round and wouldn't bite.

Ah well its going to be a case of being inventive with whats at hand to prize it out. but you cant damage the hole the bush goes in. could you try and hydrolic it out with grease and a bolt. smile

Sorted Very Happy

Bush came out with a bolt screwed into it. New bush was a little loose so some centre pops and some bearing glue sorted that. New motor from VW Heritage and it sounds and starts so much better! ACE!!
