So close...

With the help of oily today,the engine was so nearly in the bus.
Endfloat set pretty much bang on,tinwear and alternator on and then found that im missing a really important piece of tinwear that goes over the back of the bellhousing..
All those years i thought my old engine ran hot was because it was missing when the guy built the motor.
So its nearly there..

I found the rivnut gun baz,had to finish it off

I did have that little gasket in the end Al but didnt need it.
we got 3 shims in and endfloat was almost bang on

have you got the bit of tin where ? will you be able to get it ? if not i bet that mark could nok one up

Ive not got it toast,baz reckons there might one in the new bug hes bought but there 15 quid from machine 7,just means i'll have to wait untill tuesday before they can send it

Its very similar to the front piece but it holds the oil cooler tinwear in place,so its really important..
My old engine never had it,im surprised it ran so well without it..

I know.
My old engine also had the oil cooler tin missing as well but i bought that at dubfreeze.
Without it,it meant the fan was always sucking in hot air from the heads and not cool air from behind the engine

Dont forget to put the fan belt on !! Engines don't like not having 'em

you set end float with shims on the crank fella..

grab the flywheel pulley........push n pull it as in to the front of the car n then back....if you get movement then that is the end float...

you get a tolerance to work to 0.07mm-0.12mm.
Me and bar measured with a vernier loads of times and it averaged between 0.09mm-0.13mm
Thats close enough..a guy on vizzy a while back had 5.0mm of endfloat

Ive informed the AA already

well still not quite in but will be tomorrow after work.
Had a few hours down there today and it looks like this now
