I think its a bad move too..not all pre 60 owners take care of their vehicles..some dont have a clue.
Im wondering if this is part of a bigger picture?

Least if there's no test there less likely to have mods picked on , I see your points but the cars will still legally have to be road worthy same as they do now , half the time with old stuff the mot ain't worth the paper it's printed on , the brakes and most safe aspects arnt up to modem standards anyway most of the time , if it's full out about safty they should fail the lot of um
But the only legal way of telling if they are is the mot..

Isn't it Germany where you can only trailer classics around if they can't pass TUV?

if i get a pre-60 motor again, will be getting an MOT on it...........i think they are asking for trouble...there are too many dodgy cunts out there as it is,without taking into account folk who dont have a clue...........

take my old oval............i put 2 new floor pans in........worked the heater channels....and did both rear suspension mounts...............imagine that little lot if it hadnt been checked properly.........

When im restoring a motor i always work on the premise im gonna have to mot it then re-mot after it fails...i actually use the mot as my way of seeing if she passes...

there was enough in the mot test to check these old motors......brakes were never a factor....if the machine didnt check it then there was always the manual way of checking them(cant remember the name of the gadget)...

each to their own,but,imo,tis a fucking stupid idea only asking for trouble and more dodgy fuckers....

my point is really that a bofger can blue tack floor pans in and cover it with anuff filler and underseel and get an mot , mot's will stome some but far from all , i would rather see them get a really proper test very 5 years maybe than a quick freindly test once a year when they may have done 100 miles and been garaged the hole time ,

i could just as easy argue the other way mind you , just finking out loud really

for my own SAFETY and my BOYS and relative peace of mind i will still be haveing the oval MOTED as i am am one of the dumb fucks who still nos nothing bout cars , and as mario and dickie have said i feel there is something underlying here !!

Road law will still apply with on the spot fines like thay do now (eg £2000 fine for each bould tiyer)so u can't just drive a reck and get away with it. pluss two point on your licens
