alloy polishing ?

i need to polish the wheels on my Moby x7 , theres years of alloy greyness on um but there pretty unpitted . cuz of all the cut outs it will take for ever by hand so need something for the end of a drill .

any recommendation . i need something not to harsh . anyone done any old wheels ?

i would get them soda blasted 1st. then polish them up.

i guess thats a tyre off job ? i think if its going to cost to much il paint them to match the moby , there not pitted , or at least i dont think they are . was hopinf with a drill thing they mite get clean enuff to polish by hand ,

for the chrome on my raleigh burners i give them an oxalic acid bath
its a bleach for timber or cleaning decking
works great on rust on chrome or metal !
dont no if it will have the same affect on alloy !

just googled it and you can use it

a lot less harsh than other acids !
bout £6 for half ounce !!

put the wheels in a bucket of water and add a gram or two of powder then leave for 3/4 hrs then if no reaction add a gram more then you should see a reaction of like an orange substance on the wheels
scrub off the substance and re soak for about 24 hrs and keep removing the substance every so often :0

or speak to WB i think his farther inlaw is a metal polisher

do the tyres have to come off al ?

this stuff is used in cleaning bee hives and all sorts buddy

however DO wear gloves dont eat it and for the love of god dont it !!

Why not take the tire's off? would make it so much easy'er .

i can't get them off by hand and bit worried about damaging them as the bloke that found them had a hell of a job , if I can polish without talking off it would be shit loads easyer and if I paint them there's no point taking um off , I spec any process that needs them off will cost more than I want to spend on um BUT if I could get them looking great for not to much cash I would take the rubber off

The oa bath doesn't take the stickers of the bikes !
Try some in on old car wheel see what happens
