So fuck that. i done a bit of searching and found that bmw 740's use the same size cv so i did a bit of hunting and found a set at the pricey sum of a fiver each. when i was under the beemer i looked at the drive flanges and thought i can use them . all the strongest stub axles you can buy in the states are modified standard ones.
so i chopped the ends of the bmw drive fanges off.
i Then chucked them into the lathe and bored the center out then spun the stub axles down for a tight fit.
I then made a little jig so i could clamp the two parts together for welding and it worked a treat. 1 down.
standard bug v 930 . a bit of a difference.
and they only cost me a tenner and not £350.Hopefully i wont break them.
as for the axles iv'e just bought a set of 930 chrome molly ones off a guy in the states at a bargain price' just waiting for them to go on the boat.
