Anyone know anything about tropical fish?

Archie really wants some fish, so we went to a fish place today and had a look.

He really likes the little tetras with the luminous blue stripe.
Found a cool tank (bi-orb life 45) which is about 45 litres.

How easy are they to set up and keep. How many of the little buggers can you keep in a tank that size.

Started looking on t'interweb but got lost with all the techie fish keeping talk!
