Beetle advice please

Bin offered a beetle but its on springs and struts on the front end....cant see under the rear as its covered in brambles....is this a 1303.....whats the rear suspension set up like...and most important...can i slam it to the ground......

Here's a tread i came across the othe day about lowering them. unlike a bug youve got to spend ££ on new struts and springs to get them realy low.
