golf wont start

bout 3 weeks ago was driving in the golf and it just cut out
got towed home and tryed to jump it but still wouldnt start
ive just banged new petrol in and battery off the van and it still wont start
what next ??
it turns over fine could it be points failure ???
please can someone offer advice before i break it

Starter motor !!

1st thing al is to check you have a spark and fuel.

Defo got fuel ! Going to check spark Tom just going to whip lead off and hold it on the car that should be ok shouldn't it ?

Yep put a old plug in if you have one and earth it out. get someone to turn the key.

Don't have old plug was just going to get the one lead on the car the one before it splits into 4 in the dizzy ?

Use one of the plug leads you could put a philips screwdriver into the end of it and see if you can get a arc to earth. or just take a plug out.

They may just need re gaping or running througe with a bit of fine emery paper.

My guess is it's the coil pack

i no nothing of engines is that the bit that people put cans round ??

im no help with points , bazzer is the man , are you in the AA or is anyone you know ?

It's insured with rh I've got breakdown but don't no if they cover home start !!
I might see if bazzer is free some time in the week!
Hopefully found some cheap dry storage in Cleeve for the golf beetle and johns bus would mind getting them in before the weathers gone bad
We'd to get golf running cos going to give it a blow over of paint in the new year and need room for my trailor

if you could find a mate with break down they could say they stayed at your last night and today there car wont start . ether that or toe you motor up the raod a bit
